A TV Time alternative for watching together
TV Time shut down on July 15, 2026. Cena keeps what made it a habit, brings your history with you, and adds what it never had: a way to track shows with the person you watch them with.
What you keep from TV Time
- Your history: import your TV Time export, and every show picks up at the episode where you stopped.
- Episode reactions: stars, emoji moods, where you watched it and comments, with the community's result shown after you pick.
- The daily routine: what to watch next, an upcoming calendar and an alert on the day an episode airs.
- Community: follow people, comment and see what everyone is talking about.
What's new
- Watch together: link accounts with whoever you watch with and see which episode each of you is on, on one track.
- Spoiler shield: comments, titles and stills of episodes you haven't seen stay blurred until you tap.
- Taste compatibility: see how alike you and a friend are, and what they loved that you haven't seen.
- "I have 45 minutes": say how much time you have and get episodes or a movie that fit.
- Deep stats: your TV DNA, fun facts, badges showing how rare they are and a yearly Wrapped.
- Home-screen widget: tick an episode without opening the app.
Why it won't end the same way
TV Time said it was no longer sustainable as a free app. Cena was designed to cost cents per user per year to run: shared data is computed once for everyone, and much of the work happens on your phone. Tracking stays free forever, your data is never sold, and you can export everything for free at any time.
What Cena doesn't do yet
- iPhone: it's Android only for now. Get notified when it's out.
- The zip file: extract your TV Time export first, and import the CSV files inside it.
- Custom lists, rewatch logging and photos or GIFs in comments: not there yet.
- Where to watch: it doesn't adapt to your country yet.
Is Cena right for you?
There are good options out there, and the right one depends on what you want. If you're on iPhone today, Bingers, from TV Time's co-founder, and Trakt are both worth a look. If you only follow shows and care most about reviews, Serializd is built around that. If you watch with someone, want to avoid spoilers or love your stats, Cena is made for you.
FAQ
Can I bring my TV Time history to Cena?
Yes, if you saved your data export before TV Time shut down. See the step-by-step guide. TV Time's export tool is no longer available, so if you didn't save it, you can rebuild your list quickly by marking "everything up to here" on each show.
Is Cena free?
Yes. Tracking will stay free forever. If there's ever a paid tier, it will only add extras.
Which languages does it support?
English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German.
